VPM designs and manufactures custom fabricated metal and plastic parts, components, and products for businesses. We serve a variety of industries, such as HVAC, Food, Aviation, Oil and Gas. A sample of the products we design and manufacture include: dies, fixtures, carts, and plates.

Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design and development of commissioned projects. Requires travel to customer facilities to meet with engineers, discuss requirements and take measurements. The engineer will design products based on the customer specifications, present design plans, and produce technical documents as required. Additionally, the engineer will create and update CNC machine programs, ensuring accurate production to meet the customer specifications. The engineer must adhere to document controls, follow policy and procedure to ensure compliance with Quality Management System. The engineer must also be familiar with CNC machine operation.

The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and must be responsive and ready to grow with the company. Will have to adapt to different industries and changing technologies, listening to and understanding the needs of each client, while balancing their budgetary constraints with frequently rigid deadlines. Will be comfortable working both on the manufacturing floor and in the office environment.

Responsibilities

·        Make plans using detailed drawings

·        Create accurate project specifications

·        Follow VPM Design and Development processes and procedures

·        Adhere to document control policies

·        Create technical reports as needed

·        Complete projects on time and within budget

·        Communicate with clients and coworkers about projects frequently

·        Review drawings and programs for accuracy

·        Maintain up-to-date knowledge and technical skills

·        Knowing, maintaining and apply current industry standards and information

·        Participate in quality control programs for Engineering Department

·        Inspect machines and components used in facility.

·        Assure product quality (perform testing and validation of new designs, confirm fabrication, assembly and installation processes, and test finished products)

Requirements

·        Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering (ABET Accredited)

·        5+ years professional experience in metal fabrication

·        Ability to reverse engineer products

·        Proficient with Inventor software

·        Experienced with CNC Horizontal and Vertical milling (5+ years’ experience)

·        Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (calipers, micrometer, etc.)

·        Ability to multi-task, initiative-taking and work well with others

·        Detail oriented, quality and precision focused

·        Exceptional technical and critical thinking skills and reasoning ability

·        Adaptable and flexible, enjoy work that requires frequent shifts in direction

·        Ability to communicate well (written and verbal)

·        Ability to travel

·        Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing or sitting for extended periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds, etc.)

·        Must speak, read, and write English

·        US Citizen or valid work authorization

Salary & Benefits

·        Starting salary: $45,000 - $48,000, depending on experience

·        Hours: M-F 8:00am – 4:30pm
